Country Kitchen Color and Design
I’m located in the Hudson Valley of NY and as a designer and Realtor I get to see a whole lot of homes. Today I’m going to show you what high end kitchens look like in my neck of the woods but I can promise you this is relevant in many regions of the U.S. These kitchen color palette ideas can work anywhere.
This first kitchen is the home of the design team at Hendricks Churchill, a design build company located in Sharon, CT. They’ve used Farrow & Ball Inchrya Blue to blast deep green-blue all over the space. There’s also wallpaper on one accent wall. It’s a kitchen full of personality with unpolished brass hardware and an island painted in a sedate Farrow & Ball color, Mouse’s Back.
Green and Blue remain the Top Colors for Kitchens that aren’t neutral

You just need to check Google or Pinterest to know that green is still a hot color for interior and exterior design mid-2025. Both green kitchens above employ a deep green with light walls. Warm white remains the most on-trend color for kitchen walls right now.
Trending new kitchen colors include Bordeaux, Cordovan, Deep Red and Burgundy

Colors which bridge brown, red and purple are really coming into view. They are the newest kitchen color ideas. Notice these colors are applied to cabinets and not so much walls. Walls remain light neutrals like off-white or cream. It creates more drama and contrast this way, curating an overall warm and exciting look. Brass is still the top metal for hardware.
Classic neutral kitchens still reign as the most popular look
Cream walls and cabinets, marble counters and hand painted delicate blue and white Delft-like tiles adorn this serene country kitchen.
Here the cabinets and island are deep gray but the overall look is light as there are no upper cabinets, a continuing trend. Simple marble subway tiles dress the whole wall.

These three neutral kitchens have added a bit more color, adding putty, a color which straddles, green, brown, gray and yellow. Keeping the overall look light but layering in different neutrals is a great kitchen palette idea.

The ultimate soft look combines walls and cabinets in cream or off-white with marble or light quartz counters. Bead board paneling and black hardware add personality to the first kitchen.
Wood accents, whether light, like natural oak or deeper like walnut continue to add grounding and earthiness to an off-white kitchen.
