Introducing Amy Krane

Amy Krane is an Architectural Color Consultant based in Ghent, New York, trained by the IACC-NA (International Association of Color Consultants/Designers of North America) and founder of Amy Krane Color. She specializes in interior and exterior paint color consulting for residential, commercial, multi-family and production homebuilder clients nationwide. Krane has been published in Elle Decor, AD, Fine Home Building, Houzz, Consumer Reports, Domino, Apartment Therapy, and Living Etc to name a few, and hosts the design podcast Let’s Talk (Paint) Color.

Amy’s passion has always been all about color as found in nature and interpreted by man’s artistry.  After 18 years as a Producer Amy’s interest turned to floral and landscape design. Trained by the New York Botanical Garden, she chose nature as her medium and focused on the interplay between color, light and form. Mastering these crafts, she began designing gardens and supplying floral arrangements for film shoots.

Recognizing that color was at the core of her connection to the botanical world Amy redirected her focus. This led to a formalized education in the art and science of color.

Trained by the founder of the  IACC-NA and author of Color, Environment and Human Response, Frank Mahnke, Amy combines the science of applied color theory with her artistic sensibility, a background in art and business and the understanding that color has profound emotional, psychological and physiological affects on us all. Her training, experience and skill set allow her to navigate all realms of color from classic to more trend driven applications, offering her clients the best of all worlds be it for architectural spaces or product development.

While Amy’s earliest clients were residential home owners her practice has blossomed into a thriving business as an Architectural Color Consultant creating customized exterior color plans for multi-family buildings and communities. She does Commercial Color Consulting for commercial properties of all kinds interior and exterior and creates exterior color palettes for Production Home Builders colors as well.

A design blogger Amy Krane offers professional color-centric insight with a fresh voice on her blog amykranecolor.com/blog Amy is also a frequent public speaker on the subject of residential color application.

Working with Amy on our kitchen remodeling project has been a wonderful experience. Amy’s knowledge of color, design and the remodeling process are exceptional and she is an excellent listener, very patient and easy to communicate with. Thank you Amy for all of your help making our kitchen all that we had dreamed it would be!

Amy wonderfully guided me through the process of selecting 4 final colors for exterior painting. It was delightful. I could have talked color and paint choices for hours more! She artfully balances the process of guiding a client to a final color choice of their own, while ensuring that proper sought-after advice is provided, especially given the hundreds of colors and tones available to consumers. She gets a top rating from me!

We worked with Amy to choose exterior paint colors for our 1853 historic home. Amy helped us hone in on what we really wanted and guided us to the perfect color. I appreciated that she had a clear direction and did not hold back on her opinions as I really wanted someone to help me feel confident in our decisions. We have gotten endless compliments on the colors we ended up with and the house looks beautiful.
